Support post-secondary opportunities
Tennessee’s economy is thriving with jobs flooding our state. According to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, 80 of Tennessee’s 95 counties recorded a lower unemployment rate in March than the previous year with an average of 3.2 percent.
As our global and local workforce continues to grow, it is important the job opportunities that open are filled with highly qualified and educated Tennesseans. These skills are developed through improving alignment among student instruction, teacher preparation and parent engagement, which will allow our students to succeed in the marketplace.
Today, I encourage you to support policies that allow students to pursue post-secondary education credentials, so they are able to gain independence and have success in their future. I urge you to think of your children and grandchildren’s future as it is imperative we protect the opportunity of economic freedom for all Tennesseans through investment in expanded dual enrollment, work-based learning opportunities, technical training and other strategies to increase the number students who can access, afford, and complete a post-secondary credential or degree.
Thank you for your time and commitment to Tennessee students.
